Adriana Cantu is a retired Craft & sewing instructor from PSJA ISD. During the course her classes, Adriana was also the presenter of several Craft TV and YouTube shows with the same name. Ms. Cantu volunteers teaching others at Latina Hope, Hidalgo County extensions & the School Districts. Adriana will teach you to create a valuable product that you can sell.

Barb Bergquist

Barbra (Barb) Bergquist is a dedicated quilter. She did not consider herself a creative person and found the fabrics, thread, supplies, tools and patterns of quilting intimidating. Upon taking up the trade, she discovered through patience and time, that she really did have one or two creative bones in her body. Now, more than 25 years later, Barb is still creating works of art out of fabric.

Jorge Luis Sanchez

Jorge Luis Sanchez is the founder of the biggest salsa community in the RGV called “Salsa con Son.” He has participated as a guest instructor at the International Monterrey Salsa & Bachata Congress, RGV Latin Dance Festival and BKS Texas. Mr. Sanchez continues to be a guest instructor at Havana Bar & Grill as well as in other events around Texas and Mexico.

Jorge Treviño

Coach Jorge Trevino is the founder of The Children’s Chess Club and has been teaching chess since 2010. Growing up there were no chess instructors or chess clubs to learn from, it was until he joined the military that Jorge was able to learn from chess masters. Upon returning from Iraq in 2010, coach Jorge decided to give Valley children the opportunities he did not have growing up, the opportunity to learn chess. It has been his mission ever since to teach and grow chess in the RGV.

Lian Cheng Shingler

Lian Cheng Shingler is from China. She is a graduate of Chongqing Normal University and Shenzhen University in China. Ms. Shingler is a Dancer, Magician, Artist(Embroidery), Fitness and Martial arts, Tai chi Yoga instructor. Ms. Lian holds Certificates as a Fitness, Martial arts and Dance instructor.
She has received many awards for organizing and promoting Chinese culture. Ms. Shingler also manages the Asian Culture Company in McAllen, Texas.

Luis Cantu

Luis Cantu was trained at the New York Institute of Photography and in workshops around the country, he is an artist who has developed his passion for photography into the major goal of training others in the art of photography. Mr. Cantu is the Owner of “Like it photography.” Like it Photography offers Photography for Models, teaching models the premise behind a photo shoot. When models understand the work, from the perspective of the photographer, photographers are more likely to hire them on a continuous basis.

Rey Santiago

Rey Santiago has a background teaching a variety of art courses in the School of Art at UTRGV. Mr. Santiago is also a co-founder of the McAllen Art Walk, and founder/manager of the Facebook group, Printmakers International, Santiago teaches classes in various art forms. As a Master of Fine Arts Program Director and professor at UTRGV, Reynaldo Santiago brings his extensive artistic experience and love of teaching to this Community Class program.

Victor Hugo Hurtado

Victor Hugo Hurtado is a formal singer in the Manhattan Show, a local Variety Band. He began performing with Manhattan, 12 years ago. Mr. Hurtados Singer and Songwriter career tracks back to 1985 when he began writing songs. He has a wide range of audiences, and alternate from singers like Charlie Masso, Lolita Cortes. Victor has been in the music business since 1988, and at times alternating, with his career in Communication. One of his most recent works in the Media was “Porque Amamos la Musica”, as a Production Coordinator, camera man, edit assistant, interviewer, ID voice for “el Valle Aqui y Ahora”, a local radio magazine hosting with Lily Ollervides and Adrianna Cantu.
