Dealing With Grief Through Poetry A Writing Workshop for The Walking Wounded

At some point in our lives, we all have lost a loved one. Most of us dealt with our grief as best as we could. Sometimes even making the difficult choice to keep our emotions in check. This workshop will enable you to give a voice or a howl to pent up grief you might be carrying from a recent loss or from a tragic event that happened years ago. Grief does not have a timeline. You do not need to have any experience writing poetry. I will guide you through the steps. Nor will you be asked to share your writings unless you choose to do so. My goal is to build a safe place where you can explore your emotions through a variety of poetic forms. All I ask you to do is to walk through those doors with an open heart.

In a busy world, sometimes it’s nice to slow down, take a minute and hand sew! Join Viviana for a fun program where she will teach you the basics of hand sewing and embroidery. Viviana has prepared a program for you to create something different in every class.  A tote bag, an original phone case, a personalized pillow, a decorative cactus and more!  Whether you are an expert or just getting started, Ms. Caballero will guide you through the process until your masterpiece is complete.

A  $10.00 per participant, materials fee applies for each craft session. This fee will cover the cost of the materials provided for the project. Payments to be made in cash only.

How to draw what you see Class is full English

How to draw what you see designed for beginners this course will teach the basics of drawing. Starting with basic shapes you will learn how to develop them into realistic-looking forms. You will learn a variety of drawing techniques that will create a realistic effect. If you can identify a shape you can learn to draw. In this class you will discover your own drawing style that enables you to easily draw what you see. Introduction to Adobe Photoshop-Thursday Class is full English

In this hands-on, live-instructor led class students will learn the basics of adobe photoshop software.  Students will learn how to manipulate layers, colors, and digital images.  Students will be engaged through fun-filled projects such as antique photo restoration, birthday card creation, and digital illustrations.  If you have been wanting to learn how to combine your studio art skills with digital art, then this is the class for you.

Students must provide their own laptop/computer with adobe photoshop (a free trial version can be obtained).  Accommodations can be made for those that do not have laptop or software.  Seating is limited so please sign up early.

Painting for beginners Class is full English

Painters at the beginning to intermediate level of painting are welcome to take part in Painting for beginners with Ms. Clarissa Perez and discover their style as a painter. Learn the basic painting techniques involved with color, shape, line, texture, and space using acrylic paint. Materials needed per person: 9×12 (or larger) painting surface per class; Stretched canvas, canvas panels, or primed wood panels, Acrylic paints required are primary colors and earth tones (Red, yellow, blue, black, white, umber, and sienna). Acrylic paint brands recommended are Masters touch or liquitex. Brushes, a palette, table easel (optional), two small jars or cups for brush cleaning, and a slow dry acrylic medium are also required. Acrylic medium recommended is Liquitex slow dry acrylic blending medium.

Salsa Dance Instruction for beginners Class is full English

Salsa is a form of social dance that originated in the Caribbean.   Salsa is a good form of exercise as there are many styles of salsa dancing.  Dancers  shifts their weight by stepping, as  the upper body remains level weight shifts cause the hips to move as well as arm and shoulder movements are incorporated.   Salsa dance socials are commonly held in  ballrooms, night clubs, bars and any outdoor festival.

Joing Jorge Luis Sanchez who is the founder of the biggest salsa community in the RGV called “Salsa Con Son.”  He has participated as a guest instructor at the International Monterrey Sala & Bachata Congress, BKS Texas as well as RGV Latin Dance Festival.  Mr. Sanchez continues to be a guest instructor at other events around Texas and Mexico.  You will not be disappointed to take instruction and learn new moves with this professional and passionate instructor.
